2. Staff, Funding and Facilities

2.1 Staff

At the end of 1996 the following tenured positions were available:

    During 1996 the following positions were funded by grants raised externally by staff members of the institute.

    In addition 14 long-term scientific positions were funded by the ressources of the BGI Visiting Scientists' Program (see Sect. 5) which also supported short-term visits for discussing future projects or presenting research results (see Sect. 4.6). 8 scientists were funded by personal grants (stipends).
